Access Silt Court Records

Start your Silt court docket search with the citation itself and the office it names. The town runs no public case portal, so Silt court records travel through the Town Clerk and Court Clerk by phone, counter, or fax. Some matters, though, belong elsewhere. State citations and other cases may fall to Garfield County Court or District Court instead. The practical path is simple: confirm which court issued the paperwork, collect the citation details, call the local clerk, and turn to Colorado's state hearing calendar only when a Garfield County state court is named.

Silt Town Clerk Is Court Clerk

One person holds both jobs in Silt. Sheila McIntyre serves as Town Clerk and Court Clerk. That dual title answers a common question. Municipal citation and court-record requests go to the town office, not a separate county clerk. You can visit at 231 N. 7th Street. Or mail to PO Box 70, Silt, Colorado 81652.

The official Silt clerk directory lists the clerk's contact route and current details.

Silt keeps its own municipal record keeper on hand, even without a public case-search screen for the town.

Inside the Silt Municipal Court

Silt's municipal court handles town-code and municipal traffic matters. Its official code includes Title 10 for vehicles and traffic. A ticket issued under that local authority stays with the Silt Court Clerk. But a state-law traffic case, misdemeanor, felony, or general civil matter follows the Garfield state route. That holds even when the event happened inside Silt.

The sitting municipal judge is not published. The session calendar, payment vendor, annual case count, and copy fee are not published either. Ask the clerk directly rather than guessing from another town's setup. Silt's own hours, phone, fax, and dual clerk title give you a complete starting point.

The municipal code stands current through a late-2025 ordinance. Codes take supplements. So match the citation date against the version then in effect, and ask the clerk when an older provision matters.

Silt Court Records by Fax

Fax works as a Silt fallback, but only through the town. Call extension 102 first and ask what the Court Clerk needs. A solid request lists the full name, citation number, issue or court date, the specific record sought, and a return contact. Ask whether identification or prepayment applies.

Use fax number 970-876-2937 only for the Silt town channel. It is not the Garfield Combined Courts line. It will not pull a District Court ROA. A fax confirmation proves transmission only, not that the Silt record was found or released. Follow up with the clerk during open hours.

Finding Silt Court Dates

Silt posts no official public case calendar. So the citation and the Court Clerk are your date sources. Call during the published Monday-through-Thursday schedule. Skip the Friday trip; the office is closed. A reset can move a date even if you hold an older citation.

When the citation names Garfield County Court, check the Garfield state docket. Match every field you have. A blank appearance type is not permission to attend remotely. An old exported calendar is only a snapshot, not a current setting.

DateThe date printed on the Silt citation or confirmed by the current clerk.
TimeThe required reporting time provided for that municipal matter.
LocationSilt's municipal venue or the Garfield state location named on the notice.
Setting typeThe proceeding purpose, such as first appearance, plea, trial, or review.
StatusWhether the event remains set, has moved, or requires further clerk instruction.

Note: Call the Silt Court Clerk whenever the notice and any state calendar result fail to match exactly.

Friday Is Not Silt Counter Day

The Silt office keeps extended hours, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and closes on Friday. That pattern departs from most weekday court counters. So a Friday visit can fail even with the right address. Call on an open day before traveling. This matters for a same-day copy or a court-date check.

Silt access point: use phone extension 102 before a visit, then confirm whether counter, fax, or another delivery method fits the request.

This schedule belongs to the Town Clerk and Court Clerk office alone. It says nothing about Garfield County Court or District Court hours. Visitors with Silt state cases should verify the state location and its current service hours on their own.

Silt Traffic Ticket Lookups

Start with the ticket itself. A Silt police citation under a local ordinance stays with the town court, and the officially linked Silt Municipal Code, including Title 10, tells you what the cited section means. Read the court name on the paper before you search anything.

Payment works differently. Silt posts no official online pay-or-contest instructions, so call the Court Clerk, say whether you want to pay or fight it, and follow the directions printed on the citation. Don't borrow a payment vendor from Rifle, Glenwood Springs, or New Castle.

A state-law ticket is another animal. It may carry a T code or a related County Court prefix and route to the Rifle state location, which keeps the state record separate from the municipal one. The Garfield County traffic court record resource covers that county-level routing in more detail.

Silt Traffic Code and Citation Date

Municipal codes are moving targets. Ordinances and supplements revise them over time, and the Silt code was current through a late-2025 ordinance. That helps you read today's rules. It does not guarantee an older citation was charged under identical wording, so always check the provision in force on the date of the alleged violation.

For live case status, skip the code book entirely. The Silt Court Clerk keeps the municipal record and can tell you where your case stands.

Municipal code
The set of Silt ordinances enforced through local authority.
Supplement
An update that adds later ordinances to the published code.
Citation date
The event date used to identify the law and court process that applied.
Disposition
The court's recorded result, which must come from the case record rather than the code book.

How Silt Cases Reach the County

Silt cases live in layers. The Municipal Court handles the town layer. Garfield County Court takes state misdemeanors, state traffic, small claims, protection orders, limited civil cases, and related lower-court matters. Garfield County District Court, part of the Ninth Judicial District, gets the heavier files: felonies, general civil disputes, domestic relations, probate, juvenile matters, and assigned water cases. Whatever court is named on your paper decides which record system holds the file.

Not every Silt case travels that whole line. A town ordinance case stays municipal unless a lawful review moves it, and a felony starts in the state system from day one. When a ticket points to Rifle, use the Garfield County state channel rather than Silt Town Hall. For the wider view, the Garfield County court docket overview lays out the state route one level above Silt.

Silt Court or Garfield State Court

One Silt resident can hold papers from three different courts. A town-code ticket belongs with the Silt Court Clerk. A state citation lands in Garfield County Court, usually at the Rifle associate location. Felony or general civil files go to District Court. The elected Garfield County Clerk and Recorder has no role here. That office is not the clerk for any of these court case files.

Case numbers offer the first clue. State traffic matters often use T, state misdemeanors can use M, and District Court felonies commonly carry CR. Silt municipal citation numbers follow their own form, so type them exactly as printed.

Need a Silt-related state file? The free calendar answers a hearing question at no cost. For a full record or an ROA, use the statewide web form or the Garfield local form by email at GCGWSCourt@judicial.state.co.us, by mail, or at the clerk counter. Call 970-928-3065 for questions about the Glenwood or Rifle location, payments, identity, or archived files. Transcripts go to Courtreporter09@judicial.state.co.us, not the clerk-copy route.

Silt Court Records in Town Context

Silt is a small player in a small field. The 2020 Census counted 3,536 residents. That put the town fifth among the five Garfield County places with court access information here. The figure is context, not a case count, and no annual Silt municipal filing total exists to cite. Never treat the population number as the size of the docket.

For the civic side of town government, the official Town of Silt home page is the source that follows.

That civic picture frames access plainly. Silt municipal records sit with Town Hall, and the town does not share a countywide portal for city citations.

Who Can See Silt Court Records

Who holds the record determines who you ask. Silt municipal records come from the town custodian, subject to release limits. Colorado Judicial Branch files follow court access policy. The Colorado Open Records Act covers many local government records. It does not replace the specific policy governing state court case files. Even a public case can hold pages that are sealed, withheld, or redacted.

Some material needs authority or identification. Juvenile records, protected family files, probate, suppressed material, and sealed items all fall here. Personal identifiers may be stripped out too. One caution. A missing Silt result proves nothing about how a matter ended. Ask the right clerk whether a releasable record exists.

Key rules:

Chief Justice Directive 05-01 controls access policy for Colorado Judicial Branch court records.

Colorado Open Records Act, C.R.S. section 24-72-201 et seq. governs many town records while court case files remain subject to court policy.

Colorado Children's Code, Title 19 sets confidentiality limits for juvenile information and records.
